Mathematics and Statistics

The Department of Mathematics and Statistics offers a wide variety of undergraduate and graduate degree programs designed for students with diverse career or higher educational goals. The faculty assists students achieve these goals with up-to-date courses, seminars, and research or internship projects. Our faculty members maintain highly productive research programs which regularly result in publications in leading journals and academic presses. Much of the faculty research is supported by external agencies. The faculty is also actively engaged in modernizing our elementary course offerings both in content and in the use of technology.

Symme-Tri-Dye

The Mathematics and Statistics Club is hosting a Symme-Tri-Dye Event on April 24th from 4:00pm-5:30pm in IES 123. Dr. Emily Peters will give a brief talk on symmetry for the first 10-15 minutes and then everyone will get a chance to tie-dye their own shirts in an outdoor location! Supplies such as T-shirts, dye, rubber bands, and garbage bags will be provided. Insomnia cookies will be served!

Maggie Gonzalez Wins President's Medallion

Maggie Gonzalez, a Senior majoring in Mathematics, Statistics, Environmental Studies, and Spanish, was awarded the 2026 President’s Medallion at Loyola University Chicago, an award which recognizes outstanding academic achievement, leadership, and service.
